 Needle-stick and sharps injuries are the most common preventable injury that exposes health care workers to blood and bodily fluids. Vigorous safety protocols have lowered the number of injured greatly, but despite them being in place, there are about 70,000 needle-stick and sharps injuries reported in Canada.
