Camosun College

2024 Interdisciplinary Education Festival

“Future professionals learning with, from, and about each other to improve collaboration and the quality of care and service.”

IDE Festival

Camosun College’s Health and Human Services 7th Annual Interdisciplinary Education (IDE) Festival

The 2024 festival event will be held on March 25 from 2:30 to 4:30 in the CHW Atrium, Interurban Campus, with online project interaction available between March 25 and April 8. All content for the festival and the website itself is developed by students for students!

Our 2024 theme, developed by HHS Sonography students, is "The Interprofessional Puzzle: Piecing Together Client & Patient Stories". According to the Canadian Interprofessional Health Collaborative, learning each other's stories and history is an important part of successful and effective interprofessional communication. Many projects will focus on the Interprofessional Competency domain of "Patient/Client and Family Centred Care". Learners and practitioners seek out, integrate and value, as a partner, the input and the engagement of our patients and clients, their families and community in designing and implementing care or services.

Students from the Centre for Sport & Exercise Education, Trades & Tech, and Health and Human Services have created project content that will be presented both in person and on the festival website. The 2024 festival website has been updated and enhanced by students enrolled in the Interactive Media Developer (IMD) diploma program.

What To Expect

The Interprofessional Puzzle: Piecing Together Client & Patient Stories

This year we have eight programs presenting for the festival which include: Athletic Exercise & Therapy (AET), Certified Dental Assistant (CDA), Certified Medical Laboratory Assistant (CMLA), Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SONO), Message Therapy Diploma (MASS), Practical Nursing (PN), Interactive Media Developer (IMD), and the Bachelor Science Nursing (BSN) Program.

Come share your stories with us on March 25th! The more we learn about each other and our patient or client’s needs, the more effective we can be. If you can’t join us in person, comment on our website to interact with participating program students to learn how your stories shape our practice and why listening leads to success.
